Yeah, I do...

I just don't earn a whole lot every month, and I'm pretty sure my parents wouldn't allow it

I'm not too sure what the monthly cost is in euros anyway. I'll have to find out.

And on top of that, my computer wouldn't be able to run AoC even at the lowest settings, it's really bad. New computer first, then maybe AoC...

The more months you pay for, the cheaper it is.

I paid for 3 months in advance, which was £26. Pay month by month it's £15.

Two more comments: A good (WoWHead-style) feat calculator for AoC is here. It doesn't mean much since we don't have a list of all spells yet (is there a wiki?), but the final feats in each tree look cool. (A Necromancer can actually become a lich!)

Two, how well could my new laptop run AoC?

Windows Vista Home Premium
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
2.5 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB RAM

Could a 8600 GT get 60 fps on Medium?

Depends on your screen resolution.

My account says month by month £10.34

I hope it's not £15, with two subs in the house that'll get pricey.

Erhm, I tried to acces the forums (http://forums.ageofconan.com/) and now it says I don't have permission to acces them, and registration is disabled?

Did anything change since I last went there? I never signed up.

I'm still working on my screenshots. There isnt much to see in Tortage for the first 20 levels though, and I just hit level 10.

I noticed the FPS slider and I was rather impressed...

Max settings, 4x AA was around 25-30 FPS, with 8x AA it is around 19-26 FPS, still very layable at least in Tortage.

My crossfire cards will be able to let me run 30+ FPS with everything maxed out, and I'll get me a nice big monitor over summer XD.

You need to sign up through your AoC account. You choose a user name and password in there.

Hmm they changed it? I could have sworn it was more expensive then that. Still, paying for 3 month works out slightly cheaper.

If you have medium settings at 800x600 you'll have a solid 60 FPS, you could even go medium settings with all effects on. Effects and settings are two different things, sometimes you can have texture quality on high but reflective lighting shadows may need to be low. Some videocards are better at processing next-gen effects then others. With medium settings if you go for wide screen 1280x1024 things may slow up, but a 8600M GT is a pretty tough cookie.

Your best bet will be to play around with settings see whats MOST strenous for your videocard to render. Then pick and choose out of whats the hardest to render (usually blur effects, HDR lighting, etc etc), then keep what you want on and what you don't really need off.

With your videocard you could probably run with textures and graphical detail on the highest setting, and all effects on minimum in wide screen resolution and get around 60 FPS. But thats a rough estimate just based off of what AoC looks like, I've never run it before.

Edit: Whenever Malice can get around to giving me that trial I'll decide if I'll buy AoC or not. If I do, just wondering, how many of you guys are up for starting a guild of ex-GW players?

If I get any buddy keys with our retail copies I'll be happy to pass any on.

One thing I don't like, which just happened to me - when you speak to an NPC you get a cut scene, but because it's persistent everything carries on around you. So people can be nobbing about in your cut scene and worst of all... if something spawns near you, you get attacked continually and you can't fight back because... you're stuck in a cut scene ! And not only that, you can't rez ... because you're stuck in a cut scene!

I had to quit the game and login again.

Dagon's being taken down for two hours now, so I'll put some screens up in a bit if I have anything. It'll be mostly Tortage, but who cares. It looks fab!

I'd have to say Mass Effect has the best graphics as far as RPG's go, Conan has the best graphics for an MMO though.

Please don't put RPG's and MMORPG's in the same category though, by god MMO's bring shame to their father genre.

I never heard of mass effect, looks like a modern RPG in a futuristic enviromnet. I'll have to give it a go.

I wasnt comparing MMO's to RPG's, just the graphics of the game. I cant wait for Sacred 2 in september though.

Yeah, since early access went live, they redid the forums. So atm, only those with EA can use the forums i believe

http://forums.tentonhammer.com/forumdisplay.php?f=436 <- You could check that out. Doubt it's as active as the official forums though.

The forums seem pretty quiet at the moment, and much more positive than they were pre-early access.
